Change Your Face, Change Your Mood, Change Your Life

Updated: May 13, 2023

Just for Today..

Try to be a little more Mindful of your facial expressions as you work out problems and move through your day. Take a few extra moments to relax your face or even add a slight smile and see how this shifts your entire mood almost immediately.

You are now creating a new reality...

It’s obvious that when we experience emotions like anxiety, happiness, or peace, our face reflects how we feel. But during most of our waking moments, the face is showing a subtle expression of emotion, a sort of subconscious emotional mask chosen by our (many times vague or meandering) thoughts and memories. Very slight facial muscle activation that is almost imperceivable is continually sending messages to the brain- triggering the emotional body to make adjustments in our mood.

SMILE

The dialogue between our brain and the face we present to the world runs both ways. It is a perpetual cycle- either the mood spirals down, and we literally live from our negativity (loss of energy, poor choices, unsatisfying relations with others, etc)- or we spiral upwards and live in our innate happiness and power (think inspiration, creativity, synchronicities, etc)

So for today, experiment-

Try to be mindful of your facial expressions as you work out problems and move through your day. Taking a few extra moments to relax your face or even add a slight smile and see how this shifts your entire mood almost immediately.
